Sunday was philanthropy and book club day - look how well rounded I am!!! ;) Sunday morning, Giving+Sum was able to volunteer with the BigBrothers/BigSisters Summerfest event downtown. Emily, Casey and I declared ourselves Mayors of Fit City...there was no arguing, we split duties diplomatically....check us out Congress. Fit City was an obstacle course that the Bigs and Littles would run through, we'd time and then we gave the fastest runners medals.
We learned a few things that day...
1. No matter how small you are....if you are above the age of 14, don't try to go through a tunnel the size of a dinner plate...it won't go well. "100%"
2. Indy had some of the fastest, most polite and delightful Littles I've ever met.
3. Our Fit City reps learned from us Mayors that squirrel chasing should be left to dogs....and trying to catch them with chicken is futile...and weird.
4. The Bigs of Indy's program and those who run the program are amazingly wonderful and inspirational people we can all learn from. So... go to http://www.bbbsci.org/ to learn how to get involved!
Later Sunday I went to our book club at Kallie's house. I love Kallie's house….it has an all weather porch where I am convinced that if we sat long enough and had enough wine, we could solve the problems of the world. I brought chips and salsa and salt water taffy to this meeting…again…no Maggie = no Meghan cooking . Anyways, our book club book for this month is The Poe Shadow. If you have any thoughts or book suggestions, we'd love to hear them!!
Maggie will be back tomorrow and we will document this weekend as normal…which will include two birthday parties and a wedding!!!
